Training Programme on “Objective Quality Evaluation of Jute and Other Lignocellulosic Fibres” organized.

One training programme on “Objective quality evaluation of jute and other lignocellulosic fibres” was organized at ICAR-NINFET during 6th to 8th June, 2022. Officers from different national institutes, entrepreneurs and students from jute growing states participated in physical and virtual mode.

Mr Pausani Kumar, Executive Director (Eastern Zone), Food Corporation of India graced the Chair during the inaugural session on 6th June, 2022. He apprised the gathering about the benefits of use of jute bags in FCI for packaging and storing of food grains. In view of that he emphasized the importance of maintaining appropriate quality of jute fibres.

Dr D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET the importance of objective quality evaluation of jute and purpose of the training programme. He also highlighted the research activities of ICAR-NINFET, technologies developed, disseminated and commercialized in his deliberation.

Dr B. Saha elaborated the evolution of latest BIS approved IS271:2020 five grade jute grading system and advantage of objective grading system through instrumental methods over objective grading system.

Scientists of QEI division and Director of the institute taught different aspects starting from retting, extraction, quality analysis, grading and modelling as per their expertise through lectures and practical in respect of jute and other plant and animal fibres during three days. At the end of the training certificates were distributed to the trainees in the valedictory function on 8th June, 2022.
