ICAR-NINFET Celebrated the Poshan Maah 2021 and Tree Plantation Campaign at Kolkata

The ICAR- National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering Technology, Kolkata organized “Poshan Maah and Tree Plantation Campaign” on September 17, 2021 at the Institute premises.
Dr. Nimai Chandra Pan, Former Director (Acting), ICAR-NINFET, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address Dr. Pan stressed on the healthy food and its nutritional importance for every class of people in the society. He also briefed the participants about the awareness programme initiated by the Central and State Government for its citizens.
In his address, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director of the Institute, accentuated on the importance of nutrition especially in children and women to build a “Samriddh and Swasth Bharat” and role of ICAR in creating overwhelming awareness among the society. He urged the scientists and researchers to develop various models so that every person of the country can get nutritious food and stay healthy.
Earlier, Dr. D.P. Ray, Principal Scientist & Nodal officer for organizing the event elaborated the significance of Poshan Maah and Tree Plantation Campaign in the context of the sufferings due to prevailing pandemics.
On this occasion, nutritional food was delivered among 16 women including two young girls.
Fruit trees were planted by the Chief Guest, Director and other dignitaries present on this occasion. Plants were distributed to the farmers by the Chief Guest and the Director of the Institute.
A total of 75 participants including the Head of Divisions, Scientists, Senior officers, staff of the institute and farmers made the programme successful.
The programme was organized as a part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav by the Institute.
